1 Corinthians 6:11, “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”
The word sanctification means, “to be made holy and separated from sin.” In the prior verses to the above passage Paul declared to the people in the city of Corinth that though they used to be “sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexual offenders, thieves, greedy, drunkards, slanderers, and swindlers” they were now “washed, sanctified, and justified,” in the name of Jesus and by the Spirit of God.
Therefore, it doesn’t matter who you used to be or the sins you used to commit- you have a promise in the Word of God that the moment you were saved, you were sanctified from your sins! As a result, you are no longer who you used to be- you are a new creation in Christ created in righteousness and holiness.
Stop believing that you are “half dirty” and “half clean,” or that God has to still wash you again for you to really be clean. You are clean now. You are sanctified now. And you are justified now. Justification means, “to be declared righteous by God because of the work of Christ.” You are lacking no good thing in life today, the Spirit of God has saved and sanctified you 100% through and through.
Therefore, trust in the promise of sanctification that God has given you and live by the Spirit of God the new life He created for you!

Action
- If you have doubts about being 100% sanctified from sin- repent of unbelief and declare out loud 1 Corinthians 6:11 until you believe God’s Word over your thoughts and the devil’s lies.
- If you ever do sin and act outside of your new nature- repent and be washed again.
- Make it your goal everyday by the power of the Spirit to remain free from all sin and evil.
