Funny but true, I thought it would be good to make a list of the common things we say at MPI that might seem strange for outsiders. Check em’ out!

MPI SAYINGS

  1. HEAVY REVY: Something that is going to blow your mind about God, short for “heavy revelation.”
  2. BOOM SHAKA LAKA: An expression of the power of God that only those baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues can really understand.
  3. REBUKE (ING): One of our favorite past times. MPI disciples enjoy finding ways to lovingly spur each other on in accountable relationships.
  4. 101/201: These aren’t English classes in college but rather they’re our discipleship phases.
  5. NO CONDO BONDO: The best phrase you can hear after being asked a huge favor or receiving a good rebuke, short for, “no condemnation or bondage.”
  6. DROP IT LIKE IT’S HOT: A popular phrase at MPI to note the preaching/teaching is about to good.
  7. COME ON: What you say when you want to hear more of what the preacher is saying.
  8. WHAT WHAT: The chant that MPI’ers shout out when they hear the word, “Elevate,” which is our youth ministry.
  9. BOOM: Our way of saying “Amen” on Facebook.
  10. WORK IT & TWERK IT: Another way of saying, “Let’s look to the Bible and learn what it teaches.”
  11. IT’S TIGHT BUT IT’S RIGHT: An ole’ southern saying we use to affirm a socially unpopular teaching in the Bible.
  12. LOVE BOMB: Another favorite past time which involves long awkward hugs by groups of people (of course only with the same gender).
  13. WEEEELL: A way to let other people know what was just said was for them (or yourself), usually accompanied with the waving of a hand side to side.
  14. THIS IS JUST THE INTRODUCTION: A way for our pastor to let us know we’re going to be in church for a long time.
  15. CONDO-PULT: When someone tries to put condemnation on a freedom that God has given you, short for, “condemnation catapult.”
  16. BONNKE-FIED: An expression of being filled with the goodies of God in His presence, i.e., “power, joy, etc.,” comes from the last name of the great African evangelist, Reinhard Bonnke.
  17. DO-DITTLES: Small things that need to get done around the church.
  18. SHEKELS: Another word for “money.”
  19. AFTER PARTY: The time after a service spent at the altars praying, worshipping, and getting “Bonnke-fied.”
  20. IN THE GLORY: A phrase to let others know someone is in a sustained state of bliss caused by the awareness of the Holy Spirit’s continual indwelling in the believer’s life.

1 Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
