The Kingdom of God is about many things but love is the most supreme. However, love undefined is nothing more than shallow self-serving emotions. In the Bible love is defined with such words as sacrifice, selflessness, and kindness. Likewise, Paul in Romans 14:15-18 taught that true love for God would result in righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. I pray you will be encouraged to love and serve Christ in this way and thus please God and have man’s approval!

SERIES TEXT

Matthew 6:9b-13 (KJV), “9 Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”

THE KINGDOM OF GOD DEFINED

The Kingdom of God is the Father’s dominion over all creation ruled by His Son and our King, Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit.

SERMON TEXT

Romans 14:17-18, “17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval.”

THE THREE ATTRIBUTES OF SERVING GOD IN THE KINGDOM

  1. RIGHTEOUSNESS: Right standing with God (Romans 1:17), perfect in nature (2 Corinthians 5:21), and right behavior with people (1 Thessalonians 2:10).
  2. PEACE: Free from God’s wrath (Romans 5:1), living with the mind of Christ (Philippians 4:7), and resolving relational conflict (Ephesians 4:3).
  3. JOY: Spiritual bliss (1 Peter 1:8), emotional excitement (Acts 13:52), and brotherly love in fellowship (Philemon 1:7).

The Kingdom of God is all about King Jesus, who gave His life for us, so that we might lovingly serve Him and others with righteousness, peace, and joy. These do not come from human origins or efforts but rather from the Holy Ghost!
