You were never meant to be separated from God. Disobedience to God’s commands brought sin, death and separation to humanity. But because the Son of God became a man, men now may become sons of God. Jesus became what I was, so that I might become what He is. “Union with God” is the phrase disciples use to express the glorious oneness humanity now has in divinity, because we are in Christ.


Ephesians 1:3-14, 3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.”

APPLICATIONS

  1. In Christ, you will never be closer to God than you are right now (Ephesians 1:3).

  3. In Christ, the church is the fulness of God displayed in the universe, now internally, and soon to be externally in God’s Kingdom (Ephesians 1:22-23).
  4. In Christ, the church is the Body and Bride of Christ, expressing the nature and love of God (Ephesians 4:15-16).
  5. In Christ, we are “light” intermingled with the Light of Christ (Ephesians 4:22).


In union with God, man becomes god-like, intermingled and one with the Holy Spirit.

Humanity was created to be in union with divinity through the Trinity!
