1 Corinthians 6:11, “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”

Sanctification means to be made holy and separated from sin. In the verses prior to today’s passage, Paul declared to the people of Corinth that although some of them had been greedy, sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, homosexuals, thieves, drunkards, slanderers and swindlers, they were now washed, sanctified and justified in the name of Jesus and by the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)!

It doesn’t matter who you used to be or the sins you used to commit; you have a promise, in the Word of God, that the moment you were saved, you were sanctified from your sins! You are no longer who you once were. You are a new creation, in Christ, created in righteousness and holiness.

Stop believing you are “half-dirty,” “half-clean” or that God has to wash you, again and again, for you to really be clean. You are clean now. You are sanctified now. You are justified now!

Jesus said to His disciples in John 15:3, “You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.” Jesus said it, I believe it and that settles it. The great preacher from the Azusa Street revival, William Seymour understood this and said, “Sanctification makes us holy and destroys the breed of sin, the love of sin and carnality. It makes us pure and whiter than snow. Bless His holy name!”

Justification means to be declared righteous, by God, because of the work of Christ. You are lacking no good thing in life, today. The Spirit of God has saved and sanctified you, 100%, through and through. Stop doubting God and believing the lies of the devil. Trust in the promise of sanctification that God has given you and live, by the Spirit of God, the new life He created for you!

Do you believe you are sanctified?

ACTION

  1. If you have doubts about being 100% sanctified from sin, repent of unbelief and declare out loud, 1 Corinthians 6:11, until you believe God’s Word over your thoughts and the Devil’s lies.
  2. When you sin and act outside of your new nature, repent and renew your mind to believe you can obey Jesus in all that you do.
  3. Make it your goal, everyday, to live free from all sin by the power of the Spirit.
