Psalms 23:6, “Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

Psalm 23 is the most famous Psalm in the world because of its powerful imagery and the extraordinary comfort it brings. It starts out with the powerful phrase, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want,” and ends with the passage above. From beginning to end, the Psalm is power packed with God’s promises.

Today’s passage reminds us that God’s goodness and love will follow us wherever we go. Take just a few moments to consider this wonderful promise that God has given all of His sheep. God personally promised, no matter what you face in life, His goodness and love will always follow you through every situations.

You cannot outrun God’s love, or get so lost that His goodness can’t find you. You have a powerful promise, from your Shepherd, that He will always love you and give you the goodness of His will. You will never face a time in life where God’s love is not present.

God displayed His great love for us, on the cross, by having Jesus die in our place. A.W. Tozer wrote, “The cross is the lightning rod of grace that short-circuits God’s wrath to Christ so that only the light of His love remains for believers.”

Paul also wrote, in Romans 8:38-39, about God’s great love for you, “38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Decide, today, to believe and receive the great love God has for you.

He promised that His love is with you right now. His presence has been following you since the moment you were born!
