Check out these nuggets I’ve been pondering on this past year and see if it lines up with your experience in life- especially for those who are parents and/or growing in Christ!
- Self-Awareness: I know who I am and I know who I’m not- I shouldn’t need others to tell me.
- Self-Denial: I don’t have to do everything I feel or physically desire.
- Self-Sacrifice: Life isn’t all about me, I find joy in others being served.
- Self-Appreciation: I’m not jealous of you because I’m not insecure about me- I love who God made me to be.
Let’s follow Paul’s words below and “put away childish/immature things” that come from a childish understanding of one’s self, which is the exact opposite of the things above;
- Arrogance: Trying to deceive others of my weaknesses because I don’t really know myself.
- Lust: Giving in to everything my flesh desires.
- Selfishness: Making life all about me.
- Pity: Making excuses for my life so I can stay on, “Grumble Avenue” next to “Barely-Get-Along Street.”
1 Corinthians 13:11, “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.”
