According to Paul nothing in life is worth being anxious for. Disciples of Christ are to give every worrisome and troubling thought to God who can then give us peace even beyond our own understanding. Therefore, today’s message is written to help give every believer the tools needed to walk in the perfect peace of God, being anxious for nothing!

Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”


SERMON TEXT

Philippians 4:4-9, “4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”


GOD’S PLAN FOR PEACE

  1. Always rejoice (v. 4).
  2. Be gentle to all (v. 5).
  3. Don’t be anxious about anything, but pray with thanksgiving (v. 6).
  4. Let the peace of God guard your heart and mind (v. 7) (Colossians 3:15).
  5. Think on good things (v. 8).
  6. Practice peace (v. 9).

Isaiah 26:3, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
